Building solutions – damp-proofing
Building projects throw up plenty of challenges and one of the biggest is damp. Damp can wreak havoc on a property, causing all sorts of significant and hard-to-fix damage.
A building job can throw up plenty of challenges and one of the big ones is cracks in plaster, render, concrete and screed. As building site problems go, there’s not much that’s worse.
Bricks and blocks are inflexible build materials. The mortar used to hold them together will shrink when drying, it will also expand and recede thanks to changes in heat. The tension and pressure will need to dissipate somewhere. So, mixing an inflexible material with a material that moves will mean you risk cracks. This is the reason you need our Siteworx range and specifically our foam expansion joint. To maintain the structural resilience of your construction and to ensure it is not marred by unsightly cracking.
There’s nothing worse than, after completing a job, the customer calls and tells you that the concrete you laid has cracked. No matter how well it’s been laid or mixed, concrete shrinks and if you haven’t taken the correct precautions, it can crack. Fortunately, there are measures you can take to make it less likely to happen, including adding fibres to the concrete and making sure the mixture is right.
